#RoadToHell42 – Final countdown

by

In August I finally enrolled for my 1st marathon. I knew that it’ll be tough and that I, who is more into doing than practicing, have to train a lot. I had ups and I had some downs and actually I’m a bit f*cked up. #RoadToHell42 – Final countdown

During the last weeks I haven’t been able to do as much runs as I think that I needed. Instead of doing nothing I at least put more focus on strength wherefore I did more freeletics session. Last week I’ve been on vacation, cleared my mind and tried to ask my body in different sports like surfing or climbing. My main goal has been to be sporty and to be something like an allrounder.

Did I already mention that making it count sometimes sucks?

Within the last ten days before a marathon you have to calm down and only do some short runs. The so called tapering is very important to get the most of you during the actual event. As usual I’ve been a little bit out of time wherefore I did my last long run on tuesday. Surprise, surprise it’s been one of the toughest ones since a while. During my way back I even thought about taking the tube and this run has only been a 26km long one. And by an average time of 5.02 minutes per kilometre it even hasn’t been a fast one. Although the dude on my left shoulder says that this is due to Portuguese wine and laziness the dude on my right shoulder makes jokes of me 24/7.

42. Don’t panic

So you’re asking me what I’ll do now? Nothing. Douglas Adams once wrote The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s one of my most favourite books and it puts focus on two important things: 1st. Don’t Panic! 2nd. The answer is 42. And he is totally right with that. If I panic it’ll change nothing so why should I? And the answer is 42 or more precisely 42,195 km. I can’t change anything I can just run that stupid marathon and have a look if it works out fine. Hopefully it’ll do so otherwise I’ll just eat during the 42,195km everything until I get my 90,-€ entry free back.
